On April 11, 1937 a group of Christian men assembled in a house with a mission to organize a new church. The church was named Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church. The doors of the church opened and twenty members were added that day. More than 60 years later, God would send a shepherd that would usher the people into the new millennium of Kingdom ministry. On March 8, 2000, Awalski M. Moore was called to Pastor. He began his assignment in April of 2000 of the ministry which would go on to be called Zion Hill Baptist Church. Currently, Lead Servant AMMoore serves as Senior Pastor of the renamed and renewed MTZCC. Currently nestled in the heart of west Birmingham two blocks west of Legion Field.

Bishop AMMoore
Bishop Awalski M. Moore is the Lead Servant of MTZion Cathedral Church where he is dedicated to building GOD’s kingdom through the discipling of one person at a time. Bishop AMMoore was licensed in 1990, ordained in 1992, and duly consecrated to the office of Bishop in 2017. He is the eldest of two (2) children born to George and Glennie Moore.

Bishop AMMoore also serves as CEO and President of AMMoore Ministries, a non-profit outreach ministry that provides a variety of educational and social services that address the essential and changing needs of leadership and families in our communities.
​
He is also the founder of AMMoore Group, LLC, a for profit business committed to educating, equipping, and empowering people to live out that identified purpose. He has dedicated his life to being an example by encouraging men and women to live up to their potential. The core values of AMMoore Group is Learn-Live-Lead.
